GUIDELINES ON FASTING AND ABSTINENCE:
Fasting means eating a lesser amount of food. Only one full meal a day is allowed. Two other
small meals are allowed with the total amount of food consumed not to exceed the full meal. No eating between meals.
Catholics between the ages of 21 and 59 must fast. The days on which we must fast are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Days of Abstinence are days which we do not eat any meat at all. Dairy products, fish, and seafood
are allowed. All Catholics over the age of 14 must abstain. The days of obligatory abstinence are Ash Wednesday
and all Fridays during Lent.
