How do I get married at St. Bernadette Parish?
Please call the Parish Office as early as possible but at least six months before your intended wedding date to
schedule your wedding at St. Bernadette Church.
We at St. Bernadette Parish welcome the opportunity to be involved with the celebration of your marriage.
We want to do all that we can to insure that the preparation and the ceremony itself will help to reinforce the ongoing living
out of your loving commitment to one another.
All of the wedding preparation and traditions at St. Bernadette Parish are intended to enhance the sacred
and joyful nature of the celebration of marriage according to Catholic belief and practice.
To prepare for your wedding:
1. Contact the Parish Office as soon as possible
to schedule a meeting with the Marriage Prep Coordinator. Both the bride and groom should plan to spend one hour
discussing their marriage plans and completing some of the necessary paperwork. Couples will then be given a Wedding
Packet which includes vital information on many of the details of a Catholic wedding.
2. Begin collecting
the essential paperwork for your marriage. Baptized parties are asked to submit a recently-issued baptismal certificate.
If you have been married previously, you will need to submit copies of your divorce decree and your Declaration of Invalidity
from the Tribunal.
3. Make arrangements to attend a marriage preparation course. Details of these options
are listed below.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION CLASSES: According to Archdiocesan guidelines, you are required to participate
in a marriage preparation program. There are several opeions available:
- Marriage Preparation Sessions: MP Sessions are offered in the Fall of each year. Sessions
are on Monday evenings for five consecutive weeks. The fee for MP Sessions is $75 per couple. Call
the Parish Office to register for these classes. (206) 242-7370
- If it is not possible for you to attend either of these options, we are happy to help you find a preparation
session that will work for you. You can discuss other options when you meet with the parish representative who will
help you complete your paperwork.
